Tornyai János Múzeum is a major regional museum in Hódmezővásárhely, Hungary, founded in 1905 by the city. Its origins trace back to the 1904 Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition, where ethnographic objects were collected under the guidance of the renowned Hungarian painter János Tornyai (1869–1936), a native of the town. The museum was later named in his honor in 1951. It serves as a comprehensive institution showcasing the Great Hungarian Plain's heritage, with significant collections in archaeology (Neolithic to Árpád-period finds, including rare early medieval ecclesiastical relics), ethnography (folk art and rural life from the region), fine arts (a major holding of nearly 1,000 works by Tornyai depicting realist rural scenes, plus other Hungarian artists), and local history. The museum also organizes events like the annual Vásárhelyi Őszi Tárlat art exhibition and manages related sites such as the Alföldi Galéria.
