Incubus
The original book dummy for the ongoing series Jamais Vu — a photographic inquiry into the cognitive phenomenon of déjà vu’s inverse: when the familiar becomes suddenly, profoundly strange.
The word incubus — the figure that sits upon the sleeper, pressing down with an inexplicable weight — gives this early iteration its title. The sensation it names is close to what the photographs pursue: a pressure from the real world, felt but not understood.
